My teaching philosophy

As a language teacher, I see education as a human encounter. Teaching a foreign language is not only about grammar or vocabulary, but about opening doors to new cultures, perspectives, and ways of thinking. My ideal (virtual) classroom is a place of curiosity, dialogue, and personal growth.

Pursuit of purpose

My early passion for languages and cultures led me to study French and Spanish Literature and Linguistics, followed by a Master’s in Multilingual Business Communication. I initially aspired to work in the international corporate world, but after gaining experience in communication and marketing roles — from a start-up in Ghent to the Museum of Fine Arts and the Film Festival of Ghent — I realized I was missing a sense of purpose.

  • Discovering my calling

As the volunteer coordinator for the Belgian NGO Oye LENA in Peru, I was responsible for recruiting and coaching volunteers, managing communications, and teaching English and Spanish.

  • Learning as a teacher

After discovering in Peru my passion for teaching, I realized I still lacked an academic foundation. In 2023, I returned to Belgium to teach French to secondary schoolchildren while pursuing an Educative Master’s Degree at Ghent University. In 2025, I continued developing my teaching practice through the International Teacher Programme at Thomas More.

  • Growing through meaningful experiences

As a teacher, I combine a flipped classroom approach with digital tools and the Sustainable Development Goals to create flexible, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences. This integration allows me to support students’ linguistic development while fostering autonomy, critical thinking, and engagement with real-world issues.

  • Exploring as an international teacher

After three school years of teaching experience, my passion for education remains as strong as ever, but my curiosity about teaching in an international context has grown. As has my desire to discover more of the world.
