A growing vision beyond borders
My experience as a French language teacher in Ghent continues to reinforce my enthusiasm for education and my desire to keep learning, not only as a teacher but as a global citizen. I am particularly drawn to international education because it allows me to combine my love for languages, cultures, and meaningful human interaction.
Why International Education
What attracts me most to international education is its learner-centred philosophy and its flexibility to adapt to diverse needs and futures. Having worked within a national curriculum where educational choices are often shaped by political decisions, I deeply value the freedom and balance offered by international curricula, where languages, philosophy, and critical thinking play an essential role.
Teaching in multicultural contexts
I am eager to bring my enthusiasm for languages and cultures into a multicultural classroom, and to learn from colleagues with different backgrounds and approaches. I believe that every new environment is a source of professional and personal growth. My goal is to contribute to a school community that values innovation, inclusion, and curiosity. By continuously developing my intercultural competencies and exploring creative didactic and pedagogical methods, I hope to inspire students to become open-minded, confident, and responsible global citizens.
Developing & reflecting
My goal is to strengthen my ability to navigate multicultural classrooms, apply innovative and student-centred teaching methodologies, and integrate 21st-century skills meaningfully into my daily practice. These objectives reflect my awareness that contemporary education requires flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and a willingness to adapt teaching to diverse learner profiles. Through diverse trainings, I regularly reflect on how my teaching evolves over time and how new ideas influence my instructional choices.
Fostering intercultural understanding
Another objective is to foster empathy, global citizenship, and intercultural understanding in both my students and myself. I aim to design lessons that actively promote intercultural dialogue and encourage learners to bring their own identities, languages, and experiences into the classroom. By creating space for students to express who they are, I seek to cultivate a learning environment where diversity is not only acknowledged but valued as a source of collective learning.
Looking ahead,
my ambition is to work in international education settings where I can contribute to inclusive and dynamic learning communities. I aspire to grow into a language teacher who not only teaches a foreign language, but also plays an active role in facilitating educational practices that prioritize collaboration, critical thinking, and social responsibility. By continuously engaging in reflection and action, I aim to position myself as a reflective practitioner who remains open to innovation and committed to lifelong learning.
